The Pan-African Archaeological Association Congress brings together researchers from across Africa and beyond to explore diverse topics in archaeology, heritage, and related sciences. This year, the event offers 70 sessions covering a wide range of themes, approaches, and collaborative opportunities in African archaeology.
Our session welcomes contributions on human–environment interactions in African drylands, including:
• The relationships between land use and land cover, and their changes in response to climatic shifts
• The emergence, spread, and intensification of agriculture, animal husbandry, and pastoralism in prehistoric and historical contexts
• Linking past adaptations to present and future challenges in dryland environments
• Addressing anthropogenic impacts, resilience, and long-term sustainability
