Aarhus University, Denmark
Alejandro Ordonez is an Associate Professor at the Section for Ecoinformatics and Biodiversity at Aarhus University, where he primarily works within the Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO) and the Center for Sustainable Landscapes under Global Change (SustainScapes).
Alejandro is an ecologist specializing in ecoinformatics, macroecology, climatology, and invasion ecology, contributing an interdisciplinary perspective fully aligned with AGRIDRY’s objectives. By integrating macroecological approaches with climate science and (paleo)ecological frameworks, they investigate ecological patterns across broad spatial and temporal scales, a crucial requirement for mapping both historical and prospective agricultural and natural systems.
Alejandro harnesses advanced AI techniques, large-scale analytics, and predictive modeling to assess ecological processes and strengthen resilience. These efforts underpin evidence-based policy strategies, ensuring scientifically rigorous and policy-relevant outcomes. His experience includes leading diverse teams and conducting influential research combining ecological science, data-driven insights, and strategic policy interventions. Leveraging ecological simulations and socio-environmental datasets, he evaluates biodiversity and develops transformative approaches to land use and resource management.
