Sarah Mothulatshipi is a senior lecturer and Environmental Archaeologist. Her research interest is in Southern African Later Farming Societies with the main focus on their continuous use of landscape as an immediate dimension of their daily life activities.

Her research addresses archaeological material production and distribution over space, settlement patterns, land use management choices, public archaeology engagement and sustainable heritage development, management and utilization of archaeological and cultural resources. Of recent she has been engaged in research that looks at earlier time periods of societal and human development, specifically the Middle Stone Age people of the Makgadikgadi Palaeolake and southern Kalahari Desert. The primary focus of these research is on understanding how changes in regional and global environmental and climatic conditions affected the lifestyles of the hunting and gathering populations.
