Prof. Jasper Knight is a geoscientist whose research focuses on the spatial and temporal variability of landscape system responses to climate and environmental changes during the late Pleistocene and Holocene. His work draws on sedimentological and geomorphological evidence to investigate dynamic Earth surface processes.

Thematically, his research centres on glaciers, rivers, coasts, and mountain environments. Geographically, he has conducted fieldwork across a wide range of regions, including the UK and Ireland, the northwestern United States, Australia, the European Alps, several parts of Asia, and both southern and northern (Saharan) Africa. Prof. Knight serves as editor for three major international journals: Sedimentary Geology, Journal of Maps, and Land Degradation & Development. In his teaching and supervision, he emphasizes the interconnections between physical and human environments, landscape change, and environmental resources across temporal scales –from past to present and into the future
