We announce a call for abstracts for the AGRI-DRY session, “Past Environments, Future Adaptation: Archaeology as a Tool for Policy Making”, at the ASAPA 2026 Conference organised by the Association of Southern African Professional Archaeologists.

📍 The conference will be held from 5–9 July 2026 at the University of Mpumalanga.

The session focuses on the real-world applications of African archaeology, demonstrating how archaeological and palaeoenvironmental data can inform:
•⁠ ⁠climate and ecosystem modelling
•⁠ ⁠environmental and land-use policy
•⁠ ⁠food security and dryland adaptation
•⁠ ⁠sustainable development strategies
We encourage submissions from archaeologists, environmental scientists, climate modellers, agronomists, and policy researchers.
